Like A Fish Out of Water by Lynn

I am the one who is like a fish out of water.
Flung unto dry land, yearning for the impossible, the sea.

The goal is to make this blog into an on going collection of cards made by The Sisters and all workshop participants and friends. Looking forward to each new card and accompanying written entry.

Craft Camp has been postponed for this year, but other events are in the works.

Although the Crazy Sisters Craft Camp has been postponed for this year, Risa and Sharona, the former Cantor from Temple Chai in Phoenix, AZ will be offering SoulCollage workshops this winter. Lynn is offering on going workshops in Columbia, MD as well. The Sisters are working on a spa week with pampering treatments and SoulCollage workshops at the fabulous Rio Caliente in Mexico. More information to follow.
Here's Lynn and, Risa. Guess who had the professional glam shot here?
Risa and Lynn, otherwise known as The Sisters, are thrilled to welcome to you to their blog. It's an opportunity to share their SoulCollage Program and also to showcase some of the cards they have made.

About Lynn:
She has craft projects in every corner of her home. She has worked with underprivileged women to make folk art. She and Risa guide participants in the construction of the SoulCollage cards. After cards are constructed, a written interpretation is completed to add depth to the program.

And about Risa:

She has recently published an anthology of stories, Tapestry Project written by women across the country.

The sisters, Risa and Lynn, recently had the pleasure of attending a SoulCollage workshop in Millersville, Maryland and under the auspices of the founder, received their facilitators' certification. Now they are eagerly planning workshops and seminars to share this program.

For history of SoulCollage and a full explanation, go to the SoulCollage website

Blogs are like electronic journals and in order to fully enjoy this blog, please go to the upper left hand side and click unto any entry in the Archives. And while you're here, add a comment. We'd love to hear from you.

SoulCollage is perfect for all events.

Big doings in the Mallin family. Another grandchild, another grand- daughter, Eliana Merva Klein. Emily and Jason are the proud parents. This is number three for Risa and Bruce.
For the birth of Emily's new baby daughter, Auntie Lynn made this card.
It's The Mirrors!
It's the mirrors!
Look around you darling baby and you will see women in your life who have paved the way for you.
They will always be there to guide you and help you in your journey.
Take each step knowing that they are your safety net, your foundation.
Sleep well and grow strong.

While this card was made to memorialize Muffin Sue, Lynn's old, old kitty who had to be euthanized after 18 years of faithful service.

The Guardian
I am the One who has guarded you, your home and family for these past 18 years. I have been ever constant.
Vigilant.
Allowing no intruders, big or small to enter into our home.

Remember my soft coat, my steely gaze.
Standing guard was my job and I did it well.

After making the simple card, Lynn was able to leave it out in the front hall and look at it every time she walked past. She sent a photo copy to the very compassionate Vet as a thank you note. There is very little solace for the loss of a cherished pet but the simple card allowed her the expression she needed to voice her sadness.

Risa The Family Bed

The Family Bed

I made my bed with love and respect

My family has come from the bed

My family has played in the bed

Each in my family now has their own bed

And how the beds grow!

The Swimmer by Risa

The Swimmer

I am the swimmer, or I want to be.

I can do it, or I want to do it.

I will do it

Risa's "I am the One who is a Giver" card

I am the one who is a giver

I am the one who is a giver - a giver of love, a giver of kindness and a giver of hope.

With an outstretched hand, I give, as did generations before me

and as will generations yet to come.

gifts,

laughs,

hospitality,

time,

friendship,

Tzedakah, and Love!

Risa's source card

The Source

Judaism is the source of all influences in my life.

Listening and knowing that there is one and only one who created.

Listening and knowing where I fit into the picture.

As I look into myself, I see also my mother and her mother.

From generation to generation streams love and beauty.

God, creator of this magnificent universe, giver of life and all its miracles.

I am your partner. I will help you with your job of making this a better world.

Wondering through life,

Remembering and reacting.

Lynn's Traffic Jam

I am the One who

is brought to a standstill, stalled out, completely stuck in a terrible, paralyzing traffic jam. I am the One who is impatient, running late.

Sirens wail up ahead and then I remind myself that there is another person out there, desperately in need of help.

After all, I am the One who is only stuck in a little traffic jam.

The Dance is Contagious - Lynn's card

I am the One who calls to the song birds. I am the One who encourages friends and strangers to dress in feathers and join in the spinning and kicking, fluttering and landing together.

Nature and woman join in one joyous motion. The colors bold and vibrant. The song clear and courageous. The dance contagious.

I am the One who sings the song and dances every dance.

Wisdom of Pearl for Mara - done really late one night by the Sisters

I am the One with laughing eyes and radiant smiles. Listen closely and you will her vital messages. You already know about The Bird and you understand the Precious Pearl. You've peered into the coffee grinds and now you must look to your Dreams.
You must learn
to open your heart,
to love to fly,
and to dance with your friends.
Hold tight and protect innocence;
Laugh often and trust your instinct.
Don't look at the world in Black and White, but in a Spectrum of Color.
I am the One with radiant smiles and laughing eyes. Hold tight my memory. I am always with you.

Lynn's The One Who Speaks the Truth, dedicated to Risa

I am the One who Speaks the Truth. What my heart knows and what my eyes clearly see..that is what I speak. My vision is clear and right on target. And that which cannot be spoken aloud must be written. I am the One who Speaks the Truth.

A card begun by Risa, added to by Lynn, who never knows when to leave well enough alone!

At the workshop Risa and Lynn both picked almost identical images. Risa's was the upper one. Lynn's the lower one. The writing was begun by Risa, completed by Lynn.

Titled, the Sisters, what else?
I am the One who likes to have fun...dressing up in my furs or in someone else's clothes. She is the One who has nothing to wear. Maybe we should share.

And Lynn added:
We have all the time to play.

The Whirlwind - Lynn's card

I am the One who fluffs and folds. Like a whirlwind I sweep through my days, looking for and finding what needs to be done. No task is too daunting, no load too heavy, no particle too small. I smooth out the obstacles. I feed the masses. I calm the chaos. I put everything in its proper place. And once completed, I begin again.

Two Sticks and Some String - Lynn's knitting card

I am the One who creates. I am the One who takes two sticks and some string and Knits.
I honor the source: the sheep, the camel, the buffalo, and yes, even, the humble plant. Along with the repetition, the feel of the fiber...stitch by stitch, I celebrate my creation. Then buttoned and blocked, I look for the imperfection that makes it mine.

Lillith- Lynn's card

I am the One who...fled from Paradise. Yes, the Lizard cautioned me to stay, to be safe, to be patient. And yes, the Garden was green and lush and full of perfection. But the Wind whispered to me to jump on its back and ride beyond. I am the One who fled the Garden, into the World, wide eyed and naked.

The Dreamer - Lynn's card

I am the One who...dreams. Each night vision the same, each different. I dream of free form falling in a city; holding tight and then loosing those sweet , sweet babies. I see myself conquering the pirate, fighting and then becoming the maurader to take that which is not mine, to plunder.
Always the same, always different, I am the one who dreams.

Lynn's Magic Telephone

The Magic Telephone

I am the One who....dials the magic telephone. the child of a precious Mother of Pearl, I call her, toll free...anytime...chatting about mahjong, the boys, the dogs, and what's keeping her so busy these days. I am the One who dials that Call Your Mother Telephone.
