One person's box
An invitation to share your cards
Next time you come to an on going SoulCollage workshop, please bring all of your cards. Or at least all of the cards you wish to share. My plan is to leave you cutting and pasting while I disappear into the basement and scan those cards into my computer for sharing on my blog and on the SoulCollage flicker pool. I've been all over the internet and I must admit that this group's cards are over and above all those posted. Come on, let's share the love. There's a whole world out there waiting to see them.
The process
Soul Collage® is a process that is best described as a creative practice, much like journaling. You can explore and express your deepest self with it. It is a practice that is often a path to deep, inner healing, and sometimes to transformation. It is very intuitive & creative.

painted ughs. altered art
Painted fake "ughs" This is what mine look like. Painted, distress, I even ran them over with my car. Whenever I wear them I feel so happy, so cozy and warm.

painted clogs, cowboy, altered art
You cannot imagine how often I wear these. The clog was already pressed so it was a simple matter of following the pattern.
Leather cowboy boots
Leather is thirsty and the colors are not as intense. On the other hand these are easier to wear than the imitation ones.
Painted metalic cowboy boots
Here's a example of a painted cowboy boot, mostly metalic with bold mariposa style butterflies
An invitation to paint shoes...perfect holiday stress buster
At the most recent On Going SoulCollage workshop I showed off some fake "ughs" I had painted and you guessed it, everyone wants to paint shoes....painting shoes is right up there with tearing books, and getting tattoos. So, I've decided to have a wearable art workshop on December 16th at 7 at my home, on my kitchen table to help relieve some of those holiday blues. I will limit the group to 12, any more would be too much, and will provide all supplies, inks, paints, decals and give you my expertise in painting shoes, boots or clogs. I'll teach you how to distress, decocrate and feel proud of your own original wearable art. Here's what you'll do, if you want to come, rsvp, right away. Look through your closet and see if that pair of shoes is waiting for you , if not, take yourself off to Wal Mart (fake ughs and some little flat boots with buckles) or payless or TARGET (fake black Doc Martin's caught my eye, but there are some other nifty boots that would do real well)and buy yourself a pair of shoes, boots or clogs. Make sure they are not rubber boots, as in rain boots or those fake crocs, but they should fit pretty well since you'll want to wear them, and they should not be leather, but imitation, not be suede, but smooth. If you cannot bear the prospect of walking into any store, then tell me and I will buy you a pair of genuine imitation, butt ugly ughs. Just send me your shoe size...these babies run big, but since they're fake they feel best with a big old pair of socks tucked inside of them. The cost of the fake ughs is $12.75 with tax. The cost of the class without the ughs is $24.00. All materials will be provided. The cost of the class with the fake ughs is $36.75, duh?If the clsss fills up then I will schedue another so don't worry. If you want to come, rsvp right away.Email me with your questions, or call me 410 997 3965To see examples of painted footwear I have done over the years go to my blog and I'll post some photos.

Here's a poem that speaks to the Soul in SoulCollage
Mark Nepo - spiritual writer, poet, philosopher, healing arts teacher, cancer survivor,: "Let no one keep you from your journey,
no rabbi or priest, no mother
who wants you to dig for treasures
she misplaced, no father
who won't let one life be enough,
no lover who measures their worth
by what you might give up,
no voice that tells you in the night
it can't be done.
Let nothing dissuade you
from seeing what you see
or feeling the winds that make you
want to dance alone
or go where no one
has yet to go.
You are the only explorer.
Your heart, the unreadable compass.
Your soul, the shore of a promise
too great to be ignored."
no rabbi or priest, no mother
who wants you to dig for treasures
she misplaced, no father
who won't let one life be enough,
no lover who measures their worth
by what you might give up,
no voice that tells you in the night
it can't be done.
Let nothing dissuade you
from seeing what you see
or feeling the winds that make you
want to dance alone
or go where no one
has yet to go.
You are the only explorer.
Your heart, the unreadable compass.
Your soul, the shore of a promise
too great to be ignored."

Climbing...Georgene
"I am the one.... who carries the weight of the world on her shoulders as I climb the stairs of life. Even how dark thigs may be and pieces may block the way... I keep climbing to seek the light at the top. I am always seeking the greener grass. As I face the ups and downs of life... I keep climbing. I have started my climb as a delicate rose bud and I keep climbing because as things get brighter, I know I will bloom into a beautiful rose to be able to seek and find the gems of life and leave the dark behind. An introduction to SoulCollage
What is SoulCollage®?
SoulCollage® is a process through which you contact your intuition and create an incredible deck of cards which have deep personal meaning and which will help you with life's questions.
Following the simple SoulCollage techniques, you will move fragments of cut-out magazine pictures (and your own family photos) around, fitting them together in surprising ways, gluing them to cards. The images you select and use come straight through your soul, bypassing the mind. There is also a writing segment of this creative process.
This multi-leveled, creative process is one, which anyone can do. It is wonderful to share this creative process with others.
The sisters, Risa and Lynn, had the pleasure of attending a SoulCollage workshop in Millersville, Maryland and under the auspices of the founder, received their facilitators' certification. Now they are eagerly planning workshops and seminars to share this program.
For history of SoulCollage and a full explanation, go to the SoulCollage website
Blogs are like electronic journals and in order to fully enjoy this blog, please go to the upper left hand side and click unto any entry in the Archives. And while you're here, add a comment. We'd love to hear from you.
Risa will be having a workshop in Arizona in May and look at the meet up site at the top of this page for a listing of the workshops Lynn is hosting or go to SoulCollage Meetup

Risa is planning a Mothers' Day SoulCollage workshop
It'll be May 8th at 7PM at the Jewish Community Center in Phoenix. After a smashing success with her Day of Creativity, she's jumping in. Knowing Risa, it'll be the usual wonderful event she is famous for giving. There will be a nominal charge of $18.00 for materials. And of course, all supplies will be provided. Bring just a few personal photos pre-photocopied please.
Register either by calling Risa or registering on line.
We suggest you bring your mother, your daughter, a favorite cousin, sister or auntie, or your best friend. This workshop will be dedicated to the special bond between women.
Oh, alright, there will be something delicious to eat with coffee and tea. Hope you'll plan to come.

An on-going SoulCollage Group was estsblished today
I am very pleased with the dynamics of this group and hope to be able to add some of their fabulous collages and journal entries in the next couple of months. We will be meeting monthly for 3 hours or so and welcome additional members. We'll meet next on March 8th, Saturday at 1 PM at my home for more collage making, journal entries and group hugs! Anyone interested in attending please advise or register on the meet up site so enough supplies will be available.
Stay tuned for some additional cards made by members pf this group.
